Doubt is a series of large paintings with calligraphy. The writings are segments from the Quran. Mom always thought that if I made paintings with words from the Quran that they would be very popular. I never thought that my family's religion ever worked for me as a woman. It worked for my brothers, but it did not work for me. These works delve into the fact that I doubted Islam working for me.

I showed these works in College Station, Texas, in 1997. During the opening, I was unexpectedly surrounded by Radical Moslem students who objected to my use of the text from the Quran with the female images. Islam does not allow figurative work in Art,
